We’ve reached the halfway point. Day 51 ushers in the second-half of the one hundred days and it brings us back to Day 11, and Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson’s quote, “You’re better off with a kick-ass half, than a half-assed whole.” When we first started this project we had one goal in mind: to create something that captures and shares our excitement for design and entrepreneurship, with the design community. So, we built the blog and decided to post one inspiring story, article, or interview a day for the next one hundred days. We weren’t sure if we’d even get any interviews. We just launched the site, worked hard to curate interesting content, and waited to see what would happen. Our first fifty days did not disappoint.

We met with Cameron Koczon in New York, and were invigorated by CreativeMornings and the atmosphere at Studiomates. We reached out to a few other designers, got positive feedback, and kept writing. We reached out to SwissMiss to ask her if she’d be willing to answer a few questions for us. She wrote back with the following: “Congrats on Kern and Burn! (Just about to blog it on swissmiss).” Needless to say, Tina’s support launched our project into a new level of exposure that we had hoped for, but didn’t expect. The outpouring of kind words that we’ve received has reinforced our excitement for the project.

To celebrate the halfway mark we are launching a new site design. We want to channel more of the life and the spirit of our contributors into the design. We also want to craft a better reading environment. We hope you enjoy it. As we transition into the second half of the project we are starting to shift from gathering content to designing a book that hopefully does our contributors justice. We can’t wait to dive in.

We’re constantly humbled by the willingness of designers, innovators, and entrepreneurs to take the time to speak with us about what makes their work and their lives so fulfilling. We’re honored to share their stories with our readers. We were excited on Day 1 and we’re still excited on Day 51. As always, thanks for joining us on the journey. Here’s to the next 49.
